Couples Counseling
Every relationship faces challenges, and sometimes these struggles can feel overwhelming. Common difficulties that bring couples to therapy include repeated arguments, communication breakdowns, feelings of emotional disconnection, unresolved conflicts from the past, differences in values or life goals, intimacy concerns, and stress related to work, parenting, or extended family dynamics.
Couples counseling provides a supportive space to address these issues in a constructive way. Through therapy, partners can learn to communicate more effectively, understand each other’s emotional needs, and rebuild trust and connection. Therapy helps couples identify patterns that contribute to conflict, develop healthier ways of relating, and strengthen the foundation of their relationship. Whether the goal is resolving a specific issue, improving day-to-day communication, or deepening emotional intimacy, counseling offers tools and guidance to create a more satisfying and resilient partnership.
Learn how to communicate better, express your needs clearly, and build stronger, more fulfilling connections with loved ones.
Fear of rejection or abandonment — worrying that others will leave or withdraw if you show your true feelings.
Conflict patterns — feeling stuck in the same arguments, or avoiding conflict altogether until resentment builds.
Emotional disconnection — struggling to express needs or feeling unheard and unseen by those closest to you.
Low self-worth in relationships — questioning whether you’re “too much” or “not enough.”
Healing from past wounds — carrying pain from childhood or previous relationships into the present.
Preparing for marriage or new baby -- couples counseling doesn't have to focus on the negative cycles, it can also focus on your dreams. I help you to increase your secure bond by identifying areas of strength, making each other feel accepted, and identifying areas of possible conflicts early on as you prepare to enter into new stages in your lives.
Common Concerns
In our work together, both partners are guided to slow down painful cycles of blame or withdrawal, understand what’s underneath (hurt, fear, or unmet needs), and learn new ways to reach for each other emotionally.
Our approach is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — a research-based, compassionate model that helps couples move from disconnection to secure bonding. Cognitive Behavioral Tools and Mind-Body Strategies are also integrated to improve communication and problem-solving and to decrease emotional reactivity during those highly emotional moments.
Each session provides a safe, non-judgmental space to express emotions and understand each partner’s experience.
Therapy often begins with identifying patterns that cause distress, then practicing new ways to communicate and respond that foster closeness and teamwork.
Sessions are structured yet flexible, allowing space for discovery, growth, and moments of genuine connection.
Couples counseling can help you:
Understand your partner’s emotional world
Reduce defensiveness and criticism
Rebuild trust after conflict
Restore empathy and compassion
Experience renewed closeness and partnership
Even when hope feels faint, change is possible — and often begins with simply showing up together.
